Special thanks to
danmaku for the layout~ ^^
This is where I'll be putting all my translations of Gackt's novel, "Moon Child Requiem", which is the companion novel he wrote for his movie (which he also wrote) "Moon Child".
Translated from the Official Taiwanese Chinese edition published by Kadokawa Shoten International Taiwan
Gackt wrote the novel because he felt that the movie did not sufficiently represent the story he had in mind and the novel's storyline is different from the novel, though some parts overlap.
The novel takes place after Sun (Leehom Wang) and Sho (Gackt) have gone their separate ways, and all this is told is from the point of view of a new character who was not in the movie, Lin, a down-on-his-luck freelance writer/reporter whom Son befriends. Lin's editor soon finds out about their friendship and asks him to do a news story on the gang wars in Mallepa. Lin then finds out about Sho and his gang - "immigrant", which has slowly become one of the more influential gangs. Curious to understand how Sun and Sho drew apart, he investigates "immigrant" and manages to become close friends with Jen (You's character in the movie, the one with the dreadlocks!).
This is Lin's story, his requiem for his late friends.
P.S. Lin's character is actually based a little on Gackt's own when he was younger! Gackt also recommends watching the movie before reading his novel then to rewatch the movie again to fully appreciate the story. ^^

Translation of official blurb from Walkers Net...
"The other story of the movie "Moon Child"
The chain of grief resultant from all things lost.
The "Moon" saga
contains memories that blossom beautifully because they are cruel
Here is the birth of a fragment of 'Moon'
that cannot be express with music or film ---
A sorrow that is almost cruel
That's why it's even more eerily beautiful…
**
In the year 2030, the experimental city created jointly by all the Asian countries -- Mallepa, is the stage where all our stories begin. A 3rd rate reporter, the protagonist of our story, Lin Qi-yang, and a high ranking member of the Taiwanese Mafia "Yi Xin Hui", Sun Ding-xian, meet in a chance encounter, and set into motion the exciting story of "Moon Child Requiem".
The entire story is the story of Sun told through Lin's eyes. Sun struggles to survive among the various immigrant gangs, and in order to realise his dreams has broken away from his companion -- Sho. In this futuristic world, the relationship between the different racial fractions has seriously worsened, many powerful mafias have set up their own territorial claims, and refuse to let other races live in the same area, and in order to increase their influence, have started to fight for more territory, resultant in numerous cruel massares.
Sun and Sho, both of whom would readily die for their respective gangs, originally held the same ideals. Companions who had once promised to fight together, now have to fight against each other just because they happen to be on opposing sides. In order to protect their families and the things they love, they're willing to sacrifice themselves, though they know this is a lonely road of no return..."
